Outdoor Tournament Details / Rules:

Please Note: This tournament is time sensitive.  Teams that do not adhere to these rules will be docked points (1 pt per min).

  1. Teams need to be check in and registered (for walk ups) by 8:30am.  Please have your tournament entry fee upon check-in, cash or check only.
    1. M/Ws entry fee is $40 per team
    2. JRs entry fee is $30 per team
  2. Captain’s meeting is at 8:40am sharp.
  3. Pool play begins at 9:00am sharp (teams will be docked 1 pt per min that they are late)
  4. There is a 7 min MAX warm up time between games.  Refs / players must adhere to this rule (tournament director will ensure it is being followed).

Outdoor Rules (those that are different from normal indoor rules):

  • No open hand receiving, hands must be together (you may use open hands in defense and setting only)
  • You may double the ball on first ball over (besides serve), however lifts are not allowed.
  • No open hand tipping
  • No directional blocking
  • Setting is allowed, however you cannot double or lift the ball
  • Let serve is good
  • Going under the net is okay as long as you do not interfere with the other team’s play
  • Teams will switch side at a designated score, depending on what score you are playing to (i.e. games to 21, switch on 7s, etc.)
  • Main tournament volleyball is a King of the Beach (KOB) ball, however, if the teams agree on using a different ball that is okay.

 

Tournament Information

Outdoor tournaments are AVPNext sanctioned. All outdoor events require participants to have a 2009 AVPNext membership. Online AVPNext membership registration is available for $10. Link to AVPNext registration is available at the bottom of this page.

Entry fees for grass doubles are $40 per team for AA/A/BB/B divisions and $30 per team for JRs (U14/15/16) divisions. There will be cash prizing for 1st and 2nd place teams based on number of teams entered.

Teams must be checked in and paid by 8:30 am. Captain's meeting is at 8:30am. The first pool play match will start at 9:00 am. Teams that are not on the court by game time will be docked 1 point per minute. 

Pool play format will be determined based on number of teams entered.

There will be a 7m warm-up time limit between games.  Teams that are not on the court at game time will be docked 1 point per minute.

Teams should pay the day of the tournament (check or cash only).
